You can choose a Hero either on the Home menu or in the Heroes menu and select "Enter Gauntlet". Note that you cannot select a Hero if they are in a saved Party and you cannot start more than one Gauntlet a time.
On your first round of the Gauntlet, you will start with the Shop Phase to spend Gold on hiring Units. Units cost Gold to place in your Party based on their rarity. Units have special powers at higher rarities.
Common/Brown: 2 Gold
Rare/Blue: 3 Gold
Epic/Purple: 4 Gold
Each Unit belongs to a Class and Kingdom. You can read more about their powers here. Activate power bonuses by hiring Units with a matching Class or Kingdom!
You start with a limit of 3 total units for your Party. The limit will increase up to 9 units as you progress in the Gauntlet. If you want to recruit a Unit to save for a later round, you can utilize two bench slots to the left of the battlefield.
You can make space for new Units by dragging the Unit to the bottom bar. Units will sell for less Gold than what you spent to recruit them.
At the beginning of each new round, you will earn Gold to recruit more Units. You can click or hover over your Gold balance to see how much gold you will earn next round. Note that there is a cap of 15 Gold, so be sure to spend enough each round so it doesn't go to waste!
If you don't like your choice of Units because you are aiming for a specific strategy, you can spend 1 Gold to reroll your Shop.
Another way to increase your Party's power is by upgrading your Minion's level. When you have two identical units at the level, you can merge them.
Level 1 + Level 1 ➡️ Level 2
Level 2 + Level 2 ➡️ Level 3
You can also Merge your Hero with their cards, which become available to purchase in later rounds. Upgrading your Hero is an easy way to increase your Party's power!
Level 2 Hero Upgrade: 3 Gold
Level 3 Hero Upgrade: 6 Gold
Once you have finished placing your units on the battlefield, hit "Start Battle" and see how you do against a fellow Hero! You have 5 Lives to reach round 10 and qualify your party to compete in Arenas.
