# What is Nitro: Stream Racing?

## So, what’s Nitro? <a href="#ca4a" id="ca4a"></a>

Nitro is fast-paced, streamer-led, chat-plays racing game. Streamers host the race on stream, and their viewers join races by entering (!play) in chat, or from their browser (playnitro.com) where they can access their garage of customizable cars, characters, and more.

We're partnering with Ludwig, QuarterJade, Northernlion, BotezLive, AustinShow and THOUSANDS of other streamers to create the most chaotically fun game that's a great time for streamers everywhere!

The streamer controls the in-game race camera from their desktop and shows the action, and shoutcasts as the race plays out and winners are crowned! During the race, the cars automatically drive through the track without any additional actions required to play.

Viewers who want to gain an edge can head to their garage on [playnitro.com](https://www.playnitro.com/) where they can build custom loadouts with varying equipment and cosmetics. Choosing the right car and equipment can give you a leg up in a close race. Viewers can activate massive special abilities (MEGAs) during the race like banana storms and lightning tornados. Top racers from each race win rewards to unlock new cars, equipment and boosts — allowing them to further customize load-outs for future races.
